Robert Elkins is a music educator retired from the public schools of Kentucky and West Virginia. He has been a government bureaucrat, a church musician, and is currently involved with the Barbershop Harmony Society as a certified director. He has been the music director for several outdoor dramas, including Wilderness Road, Honey in the Rock, Hatfields & McCoys, and Young Abe Lincoln, and he is currently the conductor of the Louisville Mandolin Orchestra. He is the author of the novel The Conversion of Big Jim Cane. He lifes in Frankfort, Kentucky, with his wife and four cats.
