John R. Waite and Chris Ford

John Waite became interested in the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad in the early 1980s. In 1988, he established the Blue Ridge Stemwinder, a small magazine devoted to documenting the history of Southern Appalachian narrow gauge railroads. A year later he organized a meeting of railfans interested in the narrow gauge at Boone, North Carolina. The meeting resulted in the formation of the ET&WNC Railroad Historical Society. John recently retired from public education and lives with his family in Mexico, Missouri.

Chris Ford has been an advertising artist/manager for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tennessee, for over twenty-three years, and has worked in the graphic arts field for almost thirty. He received a B.A. in commercial art from Mississippi State University and currently lives in Tennessee.
